What is
LPR Global Health Initiative?

The Global Health Initiative (GHI) is a collaborative effort with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (NCH) conceptualized in 2019 to positively impact pediatric cardiovascular outcomes in Colombia with the aim of creating a comprehensive pediatric specialty care program for identifying and treating at-risk children with complex congenital cardiac conditions.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (previously known as Miami Children’s Hospital) is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the southeastern United States. With over 300 beds and 40 pediatric subspecialties, it is renowned for its excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine. Many of its specialty programs are continuously ranked among the best in the nation. NCH is dedicated to the children and families of the South Florida and the extended global community.

A free exam will improve the life quality
of Colombian children

Heart screenings or pulse oximetry is a test that must be performed 24 hours after birth to measure the oxygen levels in the baby’s blood, through a sensor that covers his right hand and foot, in order to detect a possible heart problem.

LPR Global Health Initiative will focus on detection and diagnosis at three stages of child development:

1.

During the fetus growth.

2.

Newborn’s heart sreenings.

3.

Early stage pediatrics.

No child will get sick because of a preventable cause

LPR Foundation in partnership with the Global Health Department of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Miami, United States created the first LPR Global Health Initiative (GHI) heart program in Colombia.NCH is the Florida hospital that serves the most children with congenital heart disease, its Heart Program has been ranked among the best in the United States, and its surgical results are among the best in the world.

Early detection for immediate treatments

The Colombian newborns and infant’s life quality will be improved by demonstrating the benefits of heart

100,000 screenings in the first 5 years of implementation

More than 30% of babies with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) appear normal on routine examinations

Screenings will focus in neonates under 30 days of life

The risk of mortality is higher than 30% for babies with CHD that are not diagnosed at birth hospitalization

Dare to Believe

Palliative Assistance

LPR Foundation designed a program to provide support and assistance to children who have a special health condition, to improve their quality of life.

Palliative Care exists in medicine to prevent and relieve suffering, as well as to provide a better quality of life for all patients who suffer from a serious illness that compromise their lives, as for their wellness as for their families.

The foundation was inspired by this medical approach to provide children with a special health condition with donations such as: medical supplies, personal care products, food vouchers, transportation vouchers, accommodation vouchers, among others.

Small details help in a big way

A baby is hospitalized for congenital heart disease in the Intensive Care Unit of the Portoazul Clinic in Barranquilla. Her mom received a donation of disposable wipes, wet wipes, diaper rash cream and moisturizer cream.

Family is Everything

We believe that families struggling for their children’s lives should not worry about other situations.

Help is on the way

When a family is brought down by the situation of a seriously ill child, we will be there to help them get through this.

How do families find us?

Our board will previously evaluate all families receiving financial assistance, after been referred by the Social Work Department of the hospital where the child is admitted.

Special Donations

We collaborate in the acquisition of special devices to improve the child’s quality of life, such as electric wheelchairs, motorcycle chairs, manual chairs with custom-made seats, walking devices, among others.
